Laptop Periodically Loses Internet connection.

Lately I have been having problems holding an internet connection on my laptop. The problem only occurs when the laptop is not plugged in to power, when it is plugged in and charging, everything is fine. The internet access icon in my system tray never shows any sign of something being wrong (one would think the yellow yield triangle would appear or it would display that I have lost connection to my wi-fi). Yet my browser or any other program using the internet (ie games, skype) cease to function. The only method I have been able to use to fix it is to put the laptop to sleep, which takes abnormally long when doing so to fix this problem, and then powering it back up and either waiting for the problem to occur again or plugging it in.

Sorry for the wall of text. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions to try.

Thank You.

You said nothing about the hdwe that you are using, laptop, router and server, a bit more info might help.

It is just a simple home network with a wireless g router and I'm using the built-in 802.11bgn 1T1R Mini Card Wireless Adapter.
