FWIW, I ran an online scan and also one w/ the latest Avast! software. Neither brought me any warnings regarding GOM player before I installed. Works great for me, along with VLC, of course

However the usual infection point is when folk add CODECs.

Since it takes you to open source sites to download codecs it doesn't have built in, that is a distinct possibility.

patriot..
Kindly read a prior thread titled, "GOM Player program came with TROJANS", paying close attention to the post titled, "Did You Download It From CNET?."
According to the user reviews you referenced, Ad-Aware was the only software to view it as "malware". That too is addressed in the above thread. Whether (or not) they have corrected the false detection since then, I don't know. A couple of the bigger A/V suites will automatically flag players in general as malicious.
Did you read ALL 6 pages of reviews? There are only a handful (if that) which consider it a threat.
I will be locking your duplicate post at the Spyware, Viruses & Security Forum. Duplicate posts, tend to create confusion, in addition to duplicate work. As a new member, you might not have realized it.
Thanks for your understanding...

Thanks for your help. I didn't even know about Virus Total until you mentioned it. That should come in handy in the future.
