Did you research each KB? For example http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963707 tells you some manual steps to perform. I can't tell if you tried that.
If that failed did you try removing all the .NET items and try again?
Finally, did you research each KB and see if you need any?

I have gotten the 'Failure to install's down to KB2446704 and KB96370==Update to .NET Framework 3.5. and Security Update for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1.
I created a good fresh ghost and loads of restore points and have been trying just that = removing EVERYTHING related to dot-net, use the cleaner tools, used old school JV16 registry scavenger- then find out that NO dot net stuff, any number, any sp, will reinstall. Nothing, nada! Messed with that rather a long time before recovering with the ghost- My add-remove programs lists all the dot net components from 1.something up to 4.0, various Service packs, etc etc. when I try to install just 2446704 after downloading from MS-not the update site, the installer says I don't actually have .Net 3.5... yet i can see it, and why would the update site active X scan show that I need the update if I don't have 3.5. (I'd be curious to know just exactly what earthly good Dot Net does my computer anyway!) Thanks

Now I see what we are dealing with a bit better. Not perfect as you could have Spybot or something else installed that interferes with the updates.
Ok, if you don't need dot net, why not uninstall, remove that and then hide dot.net updates in your Windows Update panels?

Create another -'Latest and Greatest' Ghost and kill/nuke/delete/remove/mutilate all the dot net and see what I'm missing. I don't create apps or develop anything, and trying to read what dot net is actually for kind of makes my head hurt- why do I need it? Thanks-

ATI's control panel Catalyst may use .NET 2.0. As an author of some .net app I know the benefits. And I know why these updates fail. No, that doesn't mean I know how to fix it. Folk have all sorts of antivirus apps, spybots and such software.
As someone said "It's always something."

8600 something PCI express card that seems bullet proof. The more i think about it, the more a NON dotnet machine intrigues me... The way I am about bloat ware, I wonder why I haven't tried it before.
